Does this sound right? (NEED INPUT!)

I know I am asking probably the same thing over and over, I'm just barely getting any responses and want to make sure I am doing this right.
I have recently started over with my exercise and purchased a HRM. I got a Sigma PC 9. Seems to be working good, I am just not sure on how accurate these can be.
I had programed my weight, age.. etc. It's just saying I'm burning A LOT more calories then what MFP is saying. It does come with a chest strap and all that and when I check my own pulse against the watch, it seems to be almost dead on.
I just did 62 minutes of some "intense dancing" (Just Dance 3,- Sweat Attack), and it says I burned a whopping 547 calories!!
How accurate would you say that was? Thanks!

its very difficult to say..every machine will say something different..from my experience it seems they tend to over estimate, even MFP..remember MFP isnt an authority.
its hard to get exact calories burned, since its more accurate to measure VO2 max and this requires a heart rate monitor and an oxygen monitor (a respirator like device). and is usually done in an medical facility.
it takes a LOT of effort to burn calories though.0 -
Yeah, I just don't want to count more then I really am. I was sweating pretty good, and not "struggling" to breathe, but my breath was def. altered and I could feel my heart rate when increased.
Ugh, why can't anything with weight loss be simple!! LoL0 -
When I asked a similar question I was told to go with the lowest amount that you could find (weather it be MFP, HRM or what ever else you may be using) I would think that it would be better to error on the side of caution.
Would you rather burn more calories but log less.
Or burn fewer calories and log more.
Which one do you think is gonna be better for you?0 -
Yeah, that IS a good idea. I don't want to under-eat either though. Ugh, this makes my head spin. I do take off calories for "regular calorie burn" what I would burn naturally in that time just sitting around
. I figured that would help a bit.
Thanks your your input ladies0
