bodymedia Armband + Activity Manager + Display

Hello, wondering if anyone has this product? More specifically, I'm wondering about the Display part of it.

Would a subscription would be necessary?

From what i read, the display keeps track of today and yesterdays caloric expenditure which can be visibly seen on the Display.

For now, i just DON'T want another subscription to something.

I understand i won't have access to the awesome online tools without the subscription... but that ok!
