Hi, I'm not new to this as such but I'm returning for the new year. I would like to lose about two stone and could do with some support. Feel free to add me, whatever stage of your journey you are at. Happy new year and good luck with the weight loss.

Hey! I am brand-new to My Fitness Pal, but I am already really liking this set-up. I have gained and lost weight a number of times over the past seven years, so although I'm new to this program/site, I'm not new to weight-loss struggles...
The biggest thing that helped me to lose weight in the past was EXERCISE, so if you do nothing else, try to get yourself moving, even if it's just starting with a 10 minute walk. There are so many conflicting reports about how much exercise we should be getting, so I looked up the "official" statistics and this is what I found:
"Guidelines for physical activity released ... by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) [and] were met with support from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American Heart Association (AHA). The organizations, which jointly published physical activity recommendations last year... said the guidelines effectively support each other and are all based on the most relevant science that links physical activity to improved health and wellness....ACSM/AHA guidelines focus on 30 minutes of moderate-intensity daily physical activity five days a week." (http://www.acsm.org/)
If you can, try to work out first-thing in the morning (to get it out of the way and to rev up your metabolism), or right after work, because (as we know), once we get home at the end of the day, it's so much harder to leave "our comfy cave/nest" again to do things like work out. Although, motivating ourselves to work out is one of the toughest parts in this process, I believe it is and will be the most rewarding. Once you get yourself there, you will do it and once you've got those endorphins running through your system you'll feel so much better (no matter what part of your weight-loss journey you're at) and will be able to use the memory of how great you feel to motivate yourself to work out again the next day... and thus the healthy pattern and momentum begins! If you miss a day, don't scrap the whole thing and beat yourself up (statistically, trying to be "perfect" and then "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" after a mis-step is one of the biggest roadblocks to weight-loss success) - just try again the next day; consistency is key.
I know you probably already know all of this stuff, but I hope that my message will at least let you know that you're not alone!! I wish you luck with your weight-loss journey!!
Have a good day
