Using the calculator you posted in this thread, I set mine to "little to no exercise" which is roughly equivalent to "sedentary" on MFP, and it gives me roughly the same (within 20-50 calories) numbers.
I think you'll see a difference between the two based on how you set the numbers. On MFP you itemize your workouts, instead of just setting a baseline assumption of "3x per week." So MFP only accounts for your basic activity level, and then you adjust by adding workouts individually.
From my perspective, MFP allows for more customization and flexibility, which I think ultimately leads to more accurate accounting.0
