Post Workout Meal and Supplements

Hi to all who read this! I am no stranger to exercise, but I dont have the first clue about how to fuel my body after a workout. I usually workout 5-6 days a week, before I eat anything in the morning for about an hour; either strength training or cardio. Sometimes if i can, I will fit in another 30-60 minutes in the evening as well. I take a vitamin called Life Max Vitamin and Vitality Formula about 20 min before my morning workout as the directions say.

My question is what should i be eating or drinking after my workouts so I can really benefit from all the hard work I put in? I read somewhere that I should be taking in protien and carbs, not fats. Is this true and which are the best? Im totally lost on this and need help!

Also, are there any other supplements i should include in my diet? Life Max is the only thing I am including at the moment.
