Hi all, can anyone recommend a great vegetarian cookbook that has great protein rich meals? I struggle to meet my protein requirements and keeping a balanced caloric intake. Suggestions welcomed! Happy New Year!

Vegetariantimes.com has the most extensive veggie recipe database I've been able to find. I would start there. Also, if you like it, greek yogurt is an excellent source of protein. I sneak plain geek yogurt into almost every dish these days.

(Australian) Women's weekly Vegie Food is quite a compendium of calorie/carb/fat/protein counted recipes, with some great high protein and low carb options for mexican, thai and italian foods, amongst others. A bit hard to get hold of now even in Australia, but if you ask me nicely I'll scan and send you some recipes from it.
  • Thanks a million. Appreciate the offer to share recipes. Found the book on Amazon and ordered it! :-)

    Have a great weekend.

also, if you like cottage cheese, it has quite a bit of protein.

tempeh, seitan and tofu are all good sources of protein and pick up whatever flavor you're cooking it in!

    and, greek yogurt! my fave!

    bump!!
  • If I'm low on protein, I add textured vegetable protein to whatever I'm cooking or I sub quinoa for noodles or rice.

I start everyday with a fruit and veggie smoothie with some vanilla protein powder. Then I know I am off to a good start and will help me stay full until lunch. Good luck.
