I posted a thing in Motivation and Support talking about positive thinking and attracting what you put out for the world. ANYWAYS- I can't find how to change it in the settings- so I thought sharing with you all would work just as well- (orignially when i signed up i put the weight i was when i signed up- and i was wishing i could put in the weight i was at my heaviest to show/track just how far i've come!)
About 4 years ago- I was at my heaviest 353lbs! In 1 year, I lost a little over 100lbs and was down to 250lbs. WHICH IS GREAT! But then i stopped watching what i was eating and eating fast food again- and did I mention I also have given birth to 2 more children since? Anyways, my weight went back up to around 280. Then with my last pregnancy- I was at 298lbs. The thought of being 300 again scared the daylights out of me! My youngest is now 3 months old- and I've manged to get my weight back down to 270lbs. And now I'm ready to get back on track and cut out fast food and EXCERCISE this time. The show- the biggest loser is a huge motivation- for me- seeing how much weight the contestants lost in 8 weeks (80-100lbs) and I was like WOW- it doesnt have to take me 3 more years to lose the last 100 or so pounds- it's something I can do this year! I can do it now!
Anyways- so I've felt like a failure because I'm still at 270 and I always forget to think of how far I've come already- even though it's been a few years since- and I should still be PROUD of myself!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a huge motivation to think i've already lost 100lbs once- I can still lose another 100lbs - it really wasn't even that hard!

Well my story is similiar to yours. I was up to 320 and lost down to 205 and I was so excited. I have pretty much gained back up to 306. I really want to see the scale below 200. It has been so long. I also am motivated by the Biggest Loser. I know I need to step up my excercise. I bought walking DVDs by Leslie Sansome and I have started using them and I love them. There is a 2 mile, 3 mile and 4 mile walk along with bands for strength training.
Stay focused you can do it!!!0 -
Bruiseviolet- Congrats on your re-committing to a healthy lifestyle!:flowerforyou: I, too, find TBL inspirational; however, I think their rate of weight loss should not serve as an example of a realistic pace. Everyone is different, and unfortunately, few of us have 6-8 hours a day to work out. I'm afraid that if you compare your progress to theirs that you will become disillusioned. Take your time!!! Celebrate every pound!! Since you've been on MFP a while, I'm sure you've seen the successes. None of them have accomplished their goals in a few weeks or even a few months. I'm confident that you can do it!!! My weight loss journey has been a very long one. I've made small diet and lifestyle changes over the last almost 7 years, since my second child was born. I'd make a small change, let it really become part of my life, then make another. I lost 20 pounds that way. Now I'm finally committed to that last 20 pounds, which may take me 3 months.0

thanks for the responses so far! Just to clear it up- I realize they are working out insane amount of hours during the day- and with a household to run and 3 children- that isn't going to happen for me. I am realistic though- i was saying it motivates me because I realize by the end of summer I could be very close to having lost another 100lbs. I'm not expecting to do it in 2 1/2 months... that's setting myself up to fail! I'm just saying when I think "Oh i still have 100lbs to lose" it's very overwhelming- but when i think "Wow, I've already lost 100lbs" (and i didnt even try anything - just cut out all fast food) it makes the other/last 100lbs completely do-able and I know I can accomplish it BECAUSE I ALREADY HAVE! It's not just wishful thinking!0
