Personally, I feel that it is just wrong to try to make your 5 year old child appear sexy and grown up.

I agree with WIll Pillage - to many sick people out there objectifying women and girls. No point in setting your baby up like that.

I can't think of anything less attractive then makeup on a 6-year-old.

OMG. I feel like a pedifile watching that. They look like little mini porn stars:angry: The one mom was "it's just like any sport" Well last time I looked my 10 & 12 year old looked like 10 & 12 year olds in their basketball jerseys.

What gets me is the moms. They spend all that time working on those kids, and they all looked like they could use a little work themselves.

I hate child pagents. What better way to totally screw up your childs perception of reality. I especially hate the mothers who say "my daughter is the one who wanted to be in these", that is total bull. Just admit that you are dissatisfied with your life and are trying to live through your child. I also detest the parents who push their children into competitive sports when the child has no interest at all. Let them be kids not your personal money makers. :grumble:

    Amen, Anna.

These girls are learning that positive reinforcement comes from their appearance. Don't be too surprised when these same girls are twirling around poles in 10-years. :explode:

Oh, sorry. I thought Shannon was calling me in here for something.

One of my good friends when I was in elementary school was a pagent queen...not that SHE wanted to be. It was all her mom. Even back then I remember thinking how sad it was.

I agree that some of those kids are scary.

I remember being 10 and coming home with grass stains on my jeans, skinning my knees on my bike and making friendship bracelets at girl scouts. I never wore make up but mommy made me wear the pretty skirt and blouse when visiting grandma.

That sounds like a bit more normal childhood to me. The only thing my mommy made me do was walk the dog, clean my room, learn to do laundry and eat my veggies

I had my daughter in a pagent when she was 2 - it was so artificial I never did it again - so much glitz and makeup - on a 2 year old - not for me! I can understand stage makeup but at 2????

Not too far off. I haven't talked to her in a few years, but she wasn't "crazy" by any means. Which is, quite honestly, shocking. I think part of that was that her dad was a VERY down to earth, my daughter's pretty no matter what, kinda guy.
