I have been suffering from abdominal pain that the doctors are looking into right now. It's probably an ovarian cyst, or something like that, I know it's not my appendix. Anyway... the pain isn't muscular. I'm sure of that.

Before I had this problem, I was going to the gym & running about 20-minutes in the Couch-to-5k program, followed by sitting on a stationary bike for about 30-60 minutes with a good book. I also did the Turbo Jam DVDs, mostly Cardio Party (with weighted hand gloves) & Booty Sculpt (with 5lbs weights), because I had the patterns memorized.

Now... what I'd like to know is... how intense is Level 1? The doctors didn't tell me to stop exercising (unless I have to take my pain-killer that day, it's a *NaRcOtIc* :frown: & says "DO NOT EXERCISE WHILE TAKING THIS MEDICATION IN CASE OF EXTREME INJURY". But if I'm not having serious pain, I don't take the medication.

Is it really hardcore? Can I sort of at-my-own-pace & semi-keep up?

30 Day Shred is an awesome workout, but I do think that you can go your own pace. She has modifications for all exercises. I HATE jumping jacks, so I usually run in place when they do those- I think that it is okay as long as you keep moving.

I've done the 30DS and it can be intense. Day 1 and 2 are killer. Especially if you're not used to it. I'm not sure if I'd recommend this one if you're having abdominal issues.

Turbo Jam (I do turbofire) can be intense, but I suppose that you can tone it down and not put 100% effort into it.

30ds is intense. i can do full 30 mins of turbo jam, but cant do thirty minutes of 30ds at a go. I think if you want something mild, you could try leslie sansone walk away the pounds dvd

30DS is intense, but a very short workout. So maybe alternate that with Turbo Jam, which is a longer less intense workout.
  • I am doing 30ds right now. Level 1, really isn't that intense and if you want to lower the intensity even more, then just take breaks when you need to! Level one consists of 3 circuits. Each one contains 1 or 2 minutes of cardio which is either jumping jacks, butt kicks, knee highs, or "pretend" jump rope for 30 seconds each. It involves quite a bit of squats, and lunges both normal and side lunges. Then there is a circuit for abs where you do crunches, bicycles, some crunch where you look like you're rocking in place, and criss-cross sit ups. Other than that there's just mixed in arm moves with 3-5 pound dumbbells while doing the squats and lunges. Also some pushups. Other than that that's all there is to level one. really not that bad and without the cool down and warm up, it's 20 minutes.

If it is an Ovarian Cyst...do you take the pill? If not, ask to go on it. I also suffered from horrible abdominal pain, mostly down my left side and way diagnosed with Ovarian Cysts. While they did find a cyst on my first scan, it was gone by the second and I had pain that night. However, since going on the pill I have been pain free. I had to take them for three straight months and didn't have anymore pain whilst using them, apart from the odd bit when it's that time of month.

I got put on all sorts of crappy medications before that that didn't work. Anti Inflammatory, stuff for IBS and some other random pills this terrible doctor put me on that didn't work.

    Just some advice. :)

I wouldn't do those exercises days you have the pain of a few days after just to let your body recover.

    Thanks for the tips!

I'm really curious to find out if it is Ovarian Cysts because I *am* on the Pill, which should control that. But I'm having twinges thoughout the day on my lower left side, & sometimes I get these weird attacks that practically cripple me with pain. It's like... double over in super-hot bathtub to relax the pain away. But till I get in the tub, it's enough pain to make me short of breath, shaking, dizzy, & nauseated. I just don't know.

I really want to start exercising again. I think I may get my gym membership renewed tomorrow & spend some time on the stationary bike or something.
