i wanted a goal of 1500 in calorie intake... and today ( my first day) i was way under that ( i only ate 700+) calories..... and the counter automatically upped my caloric intake to 2200!!...WHY?

Some of the common things i do each day ..not on the list... i saw cooking/cleaning.... Vaccuuming?, washing the dog??, doing dishes? Yelling at my kids?? ( well maybe not yelling, but he's 20 and lazy!) LOL.....
those are the two i can think of right off...
OH and how about searching friends locally?.. is there an option for that??

When you input exercise then it ups your daily calorie allowance to make up for that. There is still a deficit in the total calories though. My calories per day is 1520 or something if I don't exercise at all but if I enter exercise in that burned 200 calories then it will say my calories for the day are 1720.

And under Community, there's a tab for Find Members and you can use that to find members in your area.

The calories "earned" via exercise tend to run a little high using the MFP calculations. A heart rate monitor gives a more accurate count. If you choose to "eat back" those calories is up to you. You will see opinions for and against doing so in the message boards. You will also see lots of opinions on how many net calories you should be eatting a day... again it is up to you.

I will offer my opinion...it is very difficult to get the proper NUTRITION you need (without resorting to "shakes") for optimal health with less than 1100-1200 cals per day of real food. If you feel hungry (and have the calories "earned" available) eat. Just my $.02.

    Good Luck!
