Hey guys, i was just wondering if the 30 day shred is meant to be done every day or is it meant to be done some time apart. It has been claimed that Jillian said it shouldnt be done every day. But theres a lot of mfp members who do it every day.

I was just wondering this exact thing... I just did day 1 and I feel like I am going to DIE! I guess it will get easier if done everyday but man... it was rough for me...

Do it every other day - you need to give your muscles time to recover between sessions...If you are already fit and used todoing weights every day, it's OK do do daily....

From personal experience I'd say don't do it everyday for 30 days. I think completing it within 30 - 40 days with breaks, will give you results and up your endurance, strenghth and you will lose inches and get toned for sure. I've done it twice and could not complete it because of not taking any breaks. If you join a 30 Day Shred group, you will notice that peoople start to drop out around the middle of level 2 (day 12 or 13) and start complaining about injuries, especially in the knees and lower back, especially if they have not given themselves any breaks.

I would not go more that 4 or 5 days without a break. Day 6 is when the excersises start to get easier and you are not as sore the next day as you are on days 1,2 & 3. Also Jillian says, to move to the next level when you think you are ready. Many people in these challenges do 10 days non-stop of each level as if it were some sort of recipe. If you hurt yourself, you defeat the purpose. Also, take more time to stretch during the cool-down that she has on nthe video. With all that being said, I do like the DVD, and will start a session tomorrow morning and I'll just be smarter about it this time.

jillian always says to work out 6 days a week with one rest day. BUT, i think on the DVD it mentions something about doing the workout 3-4 times a week MINIMUM.

GOOD LUCK and it does get easier!!

It's meant to be done every day. But listen to your body and take a break if you need to. You'll still get results if you take breaks.

4 to 5 times a week. more than that should be fine too but you should always have a rest day

I just started the shred and I plan on doing it 6 days a week. I'm picking up protein shakes today for muscle repair. I'm afraid if I take breaks too often I'll lose the motivation to keep up with it, so that's why I'm going with 6 days a week (also I believe Jillian recommends it.)

Just started today and think I'm dying lol. Wish I had a mirror to see myself doing sit ups...pure funny! Can anyone tell me what I should enter into exercise for this? It's asking me for calories burnt but i have no idea
  • I have the 30DS and I do it on the days that I dont teach a zumba class. I guess I move around to different levels all the time so I dont get tired of it and for me I want more than a 20 min workout so i do 2 levels at a time. So I do level 2 and 3 one night and then 1 and 2 the next night. Switch it up. I just do it more so I am making sure I am getting a good work in. For me this is working good :)

I read around on the forums and log it myself as general circuit training :)

enter it as 'circuit training-general'. search for it in exercises.

Over the summer months I did two cycles of the 30DS completing them in about 40 days. I worked initially 6 days a week, then 5. I still had some good results. I didn't lose weight (wasn't trying to), but lost some inches and toned up! I wish I had maintained, but I didn't . So, I'm restarting it again. Day 2 is in the books.

I first did it as circuit training until I got my HRM and was able to log from that. MFP way over estimates. I burn 150-200 cals when doing 30 day shred

circuit training is a good way to log it I now have a hrm and it the calories were very close  I agree with everyone's suggestions to listen to your body and if you do it every other day just do a different workout on the other days that way you won't get bored and lose motivation.
