Pasta with Spicy Tomato Sauce
1 medium onion, chopped
3 large cloves garlic,minced
1 Tbsp. olive oil
2 lb. Italian plum tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and coarsely chopped
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
1/4 cup snipped fresh basil or 2 tsp. dried basil, crushed
1 Tbsp. capers, drained
6 ounces fresh pasta
recipe directions
In a 12-inch skillet cook onion and garlic in hot oil till tender but not brown. Add tomatoes, salt, and red pepper. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, about 25 minutes or till the sauce reaches desired consistency. Stir in basil and capers. Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions. To serve, spoon sauce over pasta.
