Google recipes for food that you have. You will get a ton of them.

Alternately, get the Clean Eating cookbooks....they even come with a weekly menu and shopping list in them!

keep it simple and easy (not boring)

    skinless chicken breasts
    tuna
    spinach
    protein powder (whey protein)
    greek yogurt
    oatmeal

avoid as much as you can processed (lots of ingredients) food

keep treats (cookies, chips, candy, etc to a minimum

    drink water

    read read read
    good luck

You don't sound dumb, you just lack experience. Good on you for getting started. Practice will make you more confident and remember there are plenty of people who don't bother to try.
I recomend watching some cookery programmes on the telly, always loads of good ideas. Anything fresh without packaging has got to be a good start. Just google recipes for the ingredient.
And have some fun with it!
    Good luck.

Cooking shows are a great way to learn. Check youtube for easy recipes!
And when shopping, if you're on a budget I recommend the supermarket brand. I'm a student, and can barely afford to feed myself so I buy cheaper stuff, and it still works!

I like allrecipes.com. They have a healthy section as well, and you can search for recipes with certain ingredients as well, so if you have chicken breast and tomatoes you just put that in the ingredient search list and look at the recipes that pop up and see what you like.
  • Whole wheat pasta and low sodium, no added sugar pasta sauce with ground turkey makes a great lunch or dinner, as long as you remember to portion. Breakfasts are easiest for me as its usually cereal, oatmeal or eggs with some fresh fruit. I always buy fresh chicken breasts but I'm sure you could alternatively choose frozen if its cheaper. Whatever you do, make sure you check every label that you pick up and also get a food scale. I got mine for less than $4 at Wal Mart. Don't get discouraged and don't hesitate to ask! We're all here for each other!
