Hey guys... happy new years!

So I have been running and working out a whole lot and eating exceptionally well since October... But my weight was at a standstill at about 134. Over christmas break I was home for two weeks... didnt really log what i was eating (I was conscious of it... but not crazy about measuring and such) and got really sick with a sinus infection so i couldn't work out... But it seems by doing nothing and not being such a stickler I have lost weight! I just weighed myself and I'm down to 130!

I am guessing that I am just losing muscle because I havent worked out... but this is okay with me. It would be nice to lose a little bit of the muscle bulk from gymnastics... so heres the question... now that I am feeling better and able to work out should I do mainly yoga/pilates type workouts or cardio intensive / lifting workouts to continue losing fat and getting leaner? I'd like to weigh 125 :)

Thanks! I'll take any advice I can get :)

  • I think sometimes our bodies just need a break - professional cyclists and athletes will often take rest WEEKS where they will only do an easy hour long workout 2 days of the week (my uncle is a professional cyclists and does this every couple weeks). And when we give our bodies that break it deserves, it thanks us in return.

I very much doubt you can lose 4 pounds of muscle mass over 2 weeks.
  • Hi Jensestarr,

If you want to lose weight or excess fats, do both cardio and yoga.

Honestly, all of it if you have time.

The yoga/pilaties/cardio intensive will help with fat burning, while the lifting will help retain what muscle you have.
