I was wondering how many of you have had success treating it all like a game?
I ask because as I examine my previous successes and failures, those times when I succeeded for extended periods of time were always somehow fun. There was no "diet" per se, and not even anything as dry as "lifestyle change" or "habit change". It was simply me versus the numbers (in gentle, fun kind of way... not in a competitive, angry way).
I'm trying to figure out how to get into that frame of mind again.

For me it is kind of like a game. It's me knowing the system and beating it. I like the raw math on MFP. It is an equation, and i know all the tricks... :happy:0

I find that I do the best when in competition.
At work we are currently in a 3 month Weight Loss Challenge that actually ends this Friday. It has been a great way to keep each other motivated, especially us who are extremely competitive and look to beat each other out at every weekly weigh in.0 -
I do treat it like a game, and it's working so far. Well, except this past three days of going up and down the same blasted pound. But that's what I get for eating salty foods and then weighing in every day.
I even play games as exercise using Kinect. I like those green numbers on this site, too, and the number that says I met or exceeded my water consumption. It is like a game to me. Except with real world results. But sadly, I don't get to kill anything. Darn it.
Oh yeah, and Firefly on your ticker is guaranteed to help you lose weight, because that series is awesome. Except it's too short! :sad:0 -
I treat it like a game... it's always about getting to the next level.. for me it was about working up to something and earning the power (points) to move to the next level.
Last year I was working on just enjoying going to the gym, when I finally found the things I loved there and didn't mind going, I moved on..
This year my first 5K is in April, My first dualthon is in May, and my first Warrior Dash in August... when I beat those levels, i plan on going to a 1/2 marathon next year and hopefully a full by the end of the year.
I also reward myself after each milestone (level) 11 more pounds and I get to go Ziplining, 36 more lbs and I get a Margarita Party with my besite, and 61 lb more and I get to go sky diving!!0 -
A pounds lost reward system is a good idea. I'm going to have to think of some!0

Me me!! I really got going when I bought my Polar F6. Then I fell out of a good lifestyle due to (excuses) life changes
I recvd a Fit Bit for Christmas and it has me walking 10k steps a day. I even went out at 10 pm to go up and down a flight of stairs to hit my mark!
Hey, what ever it takes to get healthy right?:flowerforyou:0
