I've got a real problem getting started with an exercise program. I'm newly diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I try to exercise and end up with excruitiating pain in my legs after. What is the best thing to try to get myself built up?

You could try swimming or biking. Also try motrin after workouts.0

I have Fibro as well, and the good news is that although getting started was really REALLY difficult, exercising regularly has helped with my pain a lot. There seems to be a lot of variation in what people can tolerate, but personally, running is excruciating for me, but I'm fine with walking, and I use the elliptical at the gym a lot. I find that I have less joint pain on the elliptical than I do walking, even.
I've heard a lot of people with Fibro benefit from yoga, but I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome as well, so my doctors strongly discouraged me from trying it.
And I generally take Aleve twice a day. There are also a lot of medications that can help with Fibro symptoms. When I was on Savella, I felt almost like a normal person again, but unfortunately it raised my blood pressure by almost 50%. It's a good thing it was low to start with. Some people get great results with Cymbalta or Gabapentin, but they both made me really drowsy. So it's just Aleve and exercise for me.0 -
