I have done just about every Beachbody program with great results, but I have put off purchasing Insanity because I feel like I get enough of a burn with P90X (and other Tony workouts) as well as Jillian Michaels. I have purchased P90X2, but my curiosity keeps going back to Insanity. What does Insanity deliver that these other programs do not? I'm only looking to lose another 8-10 pounds, but I do want to tighten up my legs much more. Any help would be appreciated!

  • IMO insanity is really a cardio circuit. It's more of an in shape program rather than a get ripped program. I have been doing the program for a month. I like that its all just you and your body. No weights or equipment needed(maybe a mat). I am extremely out of shape, so I chose insanity to help get down to a decent weight, before I decided to build via P90x. If you are already in shape, you may not see any major benefits.

do you enjoy p90x plyometrics? if you do, then i think you would enjoy insanity :D it's more of the same, but more difficult and six days a week.

for myself, i did one round of p90x followed by one round of insanity, and now i am doing a p90x/insanity hybrid. i am REALLY in love with the results i've gotten from this hybrid. lots of strength gains and, on my insanity workout days, my performance is much better.

my legs have toned up enormously from using insanity. my calf muscles look like juicy apples now and i have reduced a lot of fat on my legs in general! also, insanity will really help with your endurance and strengthen your heart. my resting heartrate is 53bpm. love it!

Thanks you two! I think I'm going to stay with P90X and Jillian and then do a round of Insanity in the summer when I have more time. I'm determined to give it a try!

Insanity is actually LESS time than P90X - as all of the workouts in the first month are 40 minutes and then I think 50 minutes in the second month. I'm on day 9 and I love it!

Insanity is more of a cardio based workout. First month is around 40min and 2nd month is around 55mins. If you do insanity most likely u won't do any other type of workout with it. The first week for both months your body will be really sore. But you see great results. P90x is more of a muscle building workout and is longer then insanity. I find p90x to be easy and not very hard compared to insanity. I'm a coach so in order to find out what you are looking for in your goals I can tell you if insanity would be a good fit for you. Feel free to message me

Hi! Out of all three options which one would you say is the best, or you think you got the most results from? I did p90x a long time ago but didn't finish the 90 days. I insanity a few months ago and only did like 47 days :/. I kept letting a lot of life events get in the way, which is my goal to not let that happen any more! I want to start a program today (and complete it!) but I really can't decide if I should do p90x, insanity or a hybrid. In a way I think I want to do the program that will burn the most fat first, and then after that I'll do whichever program will tone me up. Thus, I'm thinking insanity first or insanity/p90x. What do you suggest? Oh to point out, when I gained my weight back.....even though I did get larger throughout my entire body...majority of fat when to my waistline so preferably whichever program will target the fat on my abdomen best first.

    Thanks in advance :)
  • Kinda off topic, but is P90X listed in the data base for exercise on MFP? I can't seem to find it...

i like to tell people, "i can sprint a mile because of insanity, i can bring 50lb dumbells with me because of p90x." your p90x results multiply after insanity, because your endurance skyrockets. I adore both, but i feel like insanity made my health improve while p90x made me stronger.
