TEA VS WATER

So I started drinking hot water to boost my H2O levels, because I find it also fills me up more... maybe it tricks me into thinking I'm having a yummy but sinful starbucks drink.... lol

But I do get bored of it sometimes and throw ina tea bag for just a minute, with a pack of splenda.

Does having tea really dehydrate me? (am I essentially moving backwards on my H2O levels when I throw in a tea bag?)

Does anyone know?:drinker:

I don't know about it dehydrating you but if you're drinking caffeine drinks they are a dieretic so you lose much of the liquid you drink. Plain water is what I drink, and decaf lemon grass green tea but I don't count that as part of my water quota...I simply enjoy it in the morning, before I go to bed, and to warm my bones up cause it's so cold around here!

yep. Caffiene is a diruretic so it's not as hydrating as water, but tea also isn't as high in caffiene as other things are. You can buy a zillion types of herbal teas that are caffiene free though, and they all have wonderful flavour. :flowerforyou:

you can also remove a lot of the caffeine from tea (or coffee for that matter) by placing the teabag in very hot water for the first thirty seconds, then dumping out the water and using the wet teabag to make your cup of tea. with coffee grounds, you allow the boiling water to start brewing through the grounds, and throw out the first cup worth. the rest of the tea/coffee will have a greatly reduced caffeine content.

I drink herbal teas. I have about 5 or 6 differnt types in my desk drawer and I change them up. Ginger tea is very warming.
