Need help with Insanity Max

I'm currently on the third day of the Insanity Max portion, and I'm having problems with getting through the routines because I'm not strong enough (versus being out of breath). Since my muscles are fatigued, I can't keep up and my calorie burn gets lower everyday. Is this normal? I've already done two rounds of the first half and could keep up by the end of it, so I wanted to give the second half (Max) a try. Should I stick with the first half routines for the cardio benefit and alternate days with strength training to prep for the Max section, or should I stay on the Max schedule and eventually I'll get strong enough? What do you guys think? Has anyone else experienced this?
