A little confused!

I'm trying to figure this all out. Sorry if I sound stupid, When figuring out my activity level do I add my exercise in to make it moderately active or do I keep in sedentary and then add the exercise manually? With that being said, if I add it in manually and my bmr is 1608 and I work out for 2 hours and lose 600 calories do I add the 600 to the 1608? Or do I take it from the calories I ate? So confused!

    I entered my lifestyle as sedentary. then when I exercise, I just put it in. MFP does all the calculations:) its pretty awesome like that!

    I dont know if this is right or will help but I add it in manualy because it could differ from day to day. Im not sure about the calories- I thought it did it automaticly

    Select the activity level that best suites you. When you enter excersize, MFP will add the excersize calories to your goal. A calorie deficit is already subtracted from your daily goal, and will still be there after excersize.

    Do your lifestyle as SEDENTARY... when you work out, go to exercise and enter your cardio there.... MFP will do the calculations for you as far as your calories. Do it this way because you typically will not burn the same amount every day and you should take a rest day.... on your rest day you do not want to over eat.
  • As far as I know.. your activity level excludes any exercise your doing because you want to exercise.
    Mine is sedentary cause I sit at a desk daily. However someone who is constantly on their feet (a nurse) would be something else and a manual labourer something else too. Dont include the exercise your doing to lose weight. It means as part of your lifestyle - how active are you. I think I have this right but I'm not sure

    I'm with everyone else on this matter. I'd enter it manually, because if you put moderate it kind of negates the exercise, and then you count the exercise double (technically). It also takes away from your calories when you make your life 'sedentary' so that's up to you. I'd rather have more calories & exercise more lol. I work w/ UPS so I put my lifestyle as moderate.
  • My calories at the end of the day are my net calories or my food calories that I pay attention to? Like last night they were 1175 net and 1370 food. My goal a day is 1350. So was I under or over?

    Calories in food eaten - calories burnt during exercise = net calories :)
