NSV - The old, smaller clothes are coming out of the closet

So, on Christmas Eve I didn't have anything to wear and had credit at Kohl's so I thought that I would get something new. I pulled size 14 and 16 pants from the rack to try on and xlarge and large tops and sweaters to try on. Just for kicks I decided to try on the smaller sizes first and thought that there was no way they would fit properly or that I'd be able to zip up the pants. Low and behold, the 14s and the larges fit. So, this past weekend I went through my smaller sizes that I had pack up in my closet and pulled out the 14s thinking that I'd fit in them soon because I was sure that a 2005 14 was by far smaller than a 2011 14 (don't ask me why I thought this). Well, this morning I decided that I'd see if my pink 14 pants from 2005 would fit me (they were from Steve and Barry's which wasn't a plus size store and thus no plus size 14s) and I was able to fit in them and just barely zip the pants (I have mommy tummy from my two boys which I didn't have after having my daughter, something about the way I carry boys, I guess). Being the weight that I am I wouldn't guess that I would be able to fit into a 14 since I was in the 170s when I fit in them originally. This is the motivator I needed.

Wonderful. BTW, I find the Kohl's brand, Sonoma runs so small, in their pants. When I was a 10 I coldnt get them on.

Even though they didn't fit exactly right, that feels great, doesn't it! Yeah!

Way to go! I love being able to shop in my closet!
  • I was overweight for so long I no longer had any smaller clothes.
When I started losing weight I had to buy new clothes. I wore a 4X shirt. I got down to a 2X shirt and thought I'll never get any smaller than this so I bought shirts. Then I got down to a XL, thought the same thing and bought shirts. Then to a large, and now a medium. From outgrowing a 52 inch waist to a lose 34 now. I've spent a lot of money on clothes. When they get too big, out they go.
    I'll never go back.

    Congratulations!

I donated several pair of pants to the local thrift shop last week -- the baggy butt was just too unflattering! Today's trousers are two sizes smaller than the ones I wore yesterday (which are also baggy but not as bad...)!
