Elliptical

Anybody have any success with an elliptical that can be bought for under $500? They all seem to have issues with durability, but I just can't afford anything more than $500 for one. I have a treadmill at home and use it, but I really want an elliptical to maximize my time. Any suggestions?

I'd try a used equipment store or Craig's List.

I just bought a Horizon brand one for 599.99 a little over a month ago. Only problem I am having is getting it leveled. I have a workout room in my basement and the floor is slightly slanted so it is a bit of a pain.

Other than that I love having one in my house to use whenever I want. I also have a treadmill I bought years ago (Proform brand) and never had any problems with that. But I prefer the Elliptical.

This time of year, there are really great sales. I got my elliptical for about $500 a few years ago. It's a pricier elliptical normally, but in January and February, they mark them WAY down.

P.S. My daughter is a huge Dr. Who fan.

If you buy from Craigslist then make sure you can try it out and that it feels solid.
It shouldn't be loose and feel solid.
If it's powered make sure the cables look solid especially near the ends.
If you get from a Used Equipment Store the same above apples plus make sure to ask about a return policy.
If there is no return policy walk away.
There should be at least a 7 day return during which time you should make good use of it as any weaknesses will show up quickly.
If you can, put the purchase on a Credit Card if from a store. That way if the store gives you problems the Credit Card company can usually help.
