Glycerin on a Nutrition Label

I bought a new breakfast bar this week (Quaker Cinnamon Roll Soft Baked Bars) and noticed this morning that on the nutrition label under Carbs, Fiber & Sugar, it lists Glycerin 1g. I've done a little quick google of it, but still don't really get it.
Why am I eating Glycerin and why do I need to know I am eating Glycerin? Do I need to eat more? Do I need to eat less? Can someone please explain the nutrition value of Glycerin to me....

I looked at wikipedia, and it looks like the food industry classifies it as a carbohydrate (as a sweetener). I gather from that, that it really has no other nutritional benefit other than it make your food taste better, and it may be a good substitute for other carbohydrates that have more calories.

Glycerin is a component of vegtable oils, it is sweet tasting and as much as there will be debate non-toxic.0
