My Body Just isn't Cooperating...

So, I usually try not to whine and complain, but I am an emotional wreck right now. A few years ago, I broke the sesamoid bone in the bottom of my foot and I'm having severe, ongoing pain. It's frustrating because I am finally committed to this weight loss journey, and I want so badly to start a walking routine..but I can't walk on my foot right now due to another pain flare up. I have an appointment with my Orthopedic Surgeon tomorrow, but I'm scared. Last time I had a flare up I was put in a cast and on crutches for 6-8 weeks. I'm afraid I'll lose motivation and gain back the weight I've lost. I feel broken, like my body won't let me do what I so desperately would like it to. Does anyone have any ideas for exercises that are non-impact? (Literally, NO weight can be put on my foot). Thanks..

  • I am so sorry you are having to go though this! Remember that you have a whole upper body to workout, and lots of lower body exercises that don't require puting weight on your foot. A trainer would be able to help you out more also...
    Don't give up!

dont forget that what you eat is more important then how often you exercise in weight loss.

Can you exercise in the pool? Like water aerobics! Good luck to you!

This. Swimming would be a great cardio workout.

Girl, don't let the exercising stop you. I have lost 27 lbs mostly from just watching what I eat. I have a disability that prevents me from doing much exercising. I say, don't worry about your foot problem but just focus on staying within your calorie count. If you can't do much walking, there are other things you can do like leg lifts from your chair or something.

Swimming is a wonderful idea. My local Y has water aerobics, too. I guess since it's winter that just didn't cross my mind. I've found that I'm not losing weight without exercise... maybe my calorie intake is set too high? I have it set to 1 1/2 lbs. per week but my calories are still at over 1700. Maybe if I make it 2 pounds/week that will help.
