Half marathon..........

Does anyone have any tips for training for a half. I have to train just for the training.......which starts January 28th. I have already been running/walking regularly and am now on week 3 of my "pretraining". I haven't had shin splints yet but my thighs are really starting to hurt afterwards and not a muscle pain more like thigh splints (if there is such a thing). I feel like aleve is the only thing that helps. I have been using a couch to 5k app on my phone for endurence and running on my own in between for distance but am only able to do about 3 miles at the moment. I have also done some hot yoga once or twice a week. I want to be healthy and in shape. The actual half is April 14. I really want to do this and I will give my best effort. I know it won't be fast or perfect but I will have the satisfaction of getting off my behind and doing it!!! My goal is 15 minute miles.

Have you been stretching and rolling after you are doing your running? It will help to keep that from being so sore. Compression is so good way to help that as well and biofreeze is your friend As for a good training plan check runners world or higedon or galloway all have great plans. Thanks for the input!!! I have been stretching before and after my runs but what do you mean by rolling? and how do you recommend I use compression-while jogging and what do I use? Forgive my ignorance0
