Ever since I started my weight loss journey I wanted my husband to share in this experience with me .But he was set on not changing his way of eating or moving. So I continued on my own!! Well for the past 2 weeks he has been eating cleaner and tonight wait for it!! He did 20 minutes on my elliptical machine. He has lost 14 pounds in 2 months and I have lost 16.I am so proud of him for getting up and exercising because he is on medication for high cholestrol and I want him to be around for me and his 3 little girls. His doc said it was important for him to exercise but I guess me nagging wasn't helping until tonight. My girls have always ate very healthy and now we all eat healthy together.I am not going to lie though on occasion my daughter do have Happy meals at Mcdonalds with apple dippers but its not very often.I am trying to teach them now to make healthier choices when we go out.So I am a good influence on my family.

I have to add this too !! My middle daughter Paige told her doctor that her favorite things to eat now were broccoli, carrot, corn, spinach, apples, and nectarines the list goes on and she is 4.The doctor was so surprised that my daughter liked a variety of foods that were good for her.I told the doc that we were changing how we eat at home.I make sure my girls get the food they need to grow up strong and healthy. They have chips like normal kids do and even candy but only in moderation and I am proud of that I want them to be healthy and not grow up to be over weight as an adult like I am now.Just wanted to bragg about that.

Congratulations! My husband and I are making the same commitment to each other-but we live 1000 miles away from each other. No matter what, when you know someone is supporting you, it makes it easier. On days that I don't want to workout-I think about my husband and how he probably is, so I then have to! Just to keep up with him...It's important to set a good example for your kids and I know they will appreciate it!

I am so proud of you! It just goes to show that you have to do it for yourself and so does your husband. He had to decide on his own that it was time to make a change! I have dieted most of my adult life but until you are ready to make that leap it just will not work. Keep up the good work!

    That's wonderful!!!!
Good for you! We need more parents who will stand up for what's healthy & be nutritional leaders in their households!
My mother in law once told me (many years ago) that she'd never seen kids like ours who didn't beg for Kool Aid. I replied that we had never served them Kool Aid!:noway: She was quite surprised.

You'll find your kids are more agreeable, pleasant & better behaved than some so full of junk that their bodies have to struggle to function or concentrate.
    Keep up the good work.

Like this poster, I too live a long long way away from my partner (10,000 miles - him in KS, USA & me in Melbourne, Australia - the Army does that too ya sometimes). Still, through phone and text messages we manage to motivate and congratulate each other and I'm pushing myself towards goal because I know that in 31 days I wanna look nice when I see him!

I think it's lovely to have that support because weight loss isn't an easy game to play alone. Well done making sure your kids eat so well. Of course it's ok to treat them with McD's and Candy once in awhile but it's the lifelong habits of enjoying fresh fruit and vegetables and a variety of healthy meals that will stick with them forever! My girls are the same and I'm so happy and proud of them!

thats good- Me and my husband motivate each other as well- He doesn't need to lose weight he is trying to gain and of course I am trying to lose. But we workout hard together 4-5 days a week-
My kids already eat right- They love vegetables when my oldest daughter was at a restaurant she was ordering her food (we let them do that) she told the waiter i would like pasta with a side salad and please don't forget my salad that mans face was quite shocked he later came back as she was eating her salad and said I wish my kids loved vegetables like that (my daughter at that time was eating broccoli and cauliflower- Both my kids love vegetables they prefer chicken over beef- they do eat the typical kid stuff but in moderation- they know too much of stuff isn't good they are very active I don't allow them to just sit in the house on the computer, watching tv, or playing video games they are kids and they need to run around be active and use their imagination.

My kids also have no problem drinking water- We do have koolaid and juice in the house but they will bypass that for water

I think we can be the change we want to see in others and vice versa. Nagging never helps. It has never helped when someone nagged at me, so why should it work for someone else. I think we need to set examples for our families. We should be strong and motivated and eventually, our success will start to make others realise that it can be done! You have changed your husband's life forever. Kuddos to you. Hope I can do the same for my family.

    GOOD FOR YOU!!

My kids are older and we eat pretty healthy--they don't want to end up like me---but they sure don't like the healthy substitutions I have made. Fiber---gross, The sweet potato "fries" did NOT go over well---I thought they were delicious----so you are doing a GREAT THING for your children and your Grandchildren to come!!!
