SportLine Duo 125 Heart Monitor

I got this little treat for Christmas, but I am having a hard time navigating it. Yes I have read the directions but for whatever reason, getting it to count my calories is not working. Am I doing something wrong...any suggestions would help.

I have a Sportline (that I don't like...but use until I invest in a Polar). My calories burned shows at the bottom of the screen when you are in exercise mode and it shows your heart rate. The botton on the right bottom side of the watch is what you use to change from calories and what ever other measures its taking. Hope that helps. Don't have my watch in front of me so I'm going off of memory.
