Going out with friends (who aren't trying to lose weight)

General question to everyone out there. My room mates and I go out to restaurants and bars usually 2-3 times a week. While they aren't trying to lose weight and can drink as many beers, wings, and nachos as they want, I certainly can't partake and still loose that last 10-15. How do you deal with the temptations? I've been just trying to concentrate that I'm there to be with friends and not eat food. If I've had a good food and exercise day I'll get one expensive nice drink (glass of wine or a good beer) and sip on it and enjoy it. But sometimes I definitely cave (ohhhh... whats one wing...two wings...). Any advice?

I try to limit myself to splurging one day (or really one meal) per week.
If I'm going out, I research before to find the healthiest options and stick with those or I eat something beforehand so I'm less likely to snack mindlessly. Keep the alcohol to a minimum of you're anything like me (two glasses of wine and my self control is gone and I'm halfway through a plate of nachos )
If I do get a drink, I usually go for whiskey/rye and diet cola or gin/vodka and diet 7up/sprite. I also ask for it in a tall glass, since they usually give you rocks glasses with that kind of drink and a tall glass is no more calories but it takes longer to drink! I always toss the straw (I find I drink more/faster with a straw) and I snack on the celery and carrots that came with everyone else's wings!
But some days I just decide to eat whatever I want. A little cheating every once in a while is a good thing!0 -
workout more those days and if you have a bite or two its no big deal.0

i try to eat before i go out and stick to lower-cal options. i also only have one beer, because otherwise i'll be sleeping at the table! i also try to offset it with some exercise.0

I prefer the drinks with diet like Jack & Diet / Vodka & Soda over glasses of wine since they are fewer calories. A shot of Jack has about 40-50 cals or so were as a glass of wine is over 100. To avoid snacking...just eat before you go...can't snack if you aren't hungry.0

i agree with choosing a shot over a glass of wine....i have bacardi and diet...it under 60 cals...you can have 2 for the calories of most glasses of wine and i also snack on the celery with others wings and have maybe 1-2 wings...if i have been good that day. It def helps to find out where you are going and try to pull up the menu online before hand...most places will have nutrion info for you to figure it out and fit it into your calories for the day. Last you can always ask for a box with your meal and put half of it away immediately...out of sight out of mind...hope that helps0

I just bust my butt and burn the excess calories the planned days. Before the day and after.0
