good running trainers?

im starting jogging again in the evenings as im starting to train for race for life thats taking place here in May. And the money i raise goes to Breast Cancer UK.

These are the trainers that im training in now:

i jog in these trainers, and after about 10 mins they start to hurt my feet real bad. I have problems with my left ankle - its very weak and even when im walking my leg gives way, and i will be on the floor. (yes its happend in supermarkets before now =/) soo i cant put too much strain on the ankle, and because im not wearing proper running trainers its not helping at all.

Im from the UK, sooo any UK'ers out there feel free to send me some links to sports shops online with good running trainers :) my price budget is under £70. it would mean alot if anyone can help me.

    If you really want to seriously pursue running, go to a running/shoe store and get professionally fitted. Could very potentially save pain and injuries down the line. The shoes you show below are not, imo, good for running.

    Hi Sophia

    I'd definitely get down to a local running shop. With a budget of £70, I think you could get a reasonable pair of shoes fitted. They'll test your gait, and check the fit for you. I've recently done this myself, and it makes all the difference in the world to my comfort during and after my runs.

    Try Sweatshop, they have stores throughout the country so hopefully there is a one near you

    If not then try doing an online search for independent running shops near to you and they should be able to check your gait and find some suitable shoes for you. The price will vary but you may be able to get a bargain in the January sales

    i will defo go and do this then thankyou, i didnt know like running shops can fit you a good pair of running trainers! im soo dumb haha..

    I find my nike air shox are great for running in as they haven,t got a complete flat sole and they support my foot well x

    Unfortunately everyone's running style isn't the same though, and what works for one person won't necessarily work for another. When I went recently for my gait analysis, I tried on lots of different shoes, and no two felt the same. The ones I bought were the ones that objectively gave me the best form, and that felt best to me when I ran in them.

    I know early on in running it might feel silly to go to the trouble of having this sort of thing looked at properly, but honestly, it was the best thing I've done for my running, and for my comfort.

    my ankle used to be fine, it was only 4 years ago when i had an accident whilst i was on my bike, i was cycling down to a friends, and a 4x4 landrover thing knocked me off my bike and with me been really heavy at the time my whole weight landed on my ankle and bascially crushed it, and it hasnt gone back to normal even after surgery =/. its better than what it was at the time when it happend, i couldnt walk for weeks. but now n again it gives way, and unfortunatley i end up on my bum on the floor. soo i have to be careful not to strain it too much.

    I just bought a pair from them today, the were on sale and I save over £60's with your budget you'll be able to find a great pair of trainers.
    I can't wait to try out my new trainers.

    THose are not Running Shoes! Look into those make specificly for running
  • They are not running trainers, they are too flat. Go to any Sportsdirect and they will give you the shape of your foot. Buy depending on this, most brands cater for all types. Asics are probably the best brand..

    I wear Brooks Glycerin 7, it really improved my run i'd recommend getting tested at the sweatshop too and then maybe looking at M&Mdirect.com to buy your trainers, i bought mine for £9.99 from M&Mdirect and sweatshop sells it for 45 quid :O
    Although i didnt get tested at sweatshop, the day i went to shopping centre i was running late and they said it'll take 30 mins so didnt bother, just saw the brooks online and read reviews and bought it cos it was a good deal lol

    That's the best advice...also, get an ankle brace! You don't want to hurt yourself if it gives out!
