Just got a body bugg for Christmas and I am enjoying it. I have really gotten an education on my actual numbers. I burn a lot more on the treadmill running than I thought and a lot less on the eliptical than I thought. 600 calories during sleep. I don't know if I will keep wearing it 24/7 but I like seeing what I burn and my progress.

Can you tell me your average per hour when sitting around? My new heart rate monitor is showing around 200 an hour when I'm not doing much...sitting and doing light activity around the house. That seems really high? Curious what the Body Bugg says.
Oh, and I know it won't be the same for us, just curious.

    Sorry to butt in...but,

HRM are not meant to wear all day, only when you are working out.

You're better off to buy a Body Bugg or BodyMedia Fit.

I'm not planning on wearing it all day. Just for a couple hours out of curiosity.

I love my Body Media Fit! I can't believe the calories I burn or the intensity I work out at. It's really helped me!

I got my BodyBugg from Santa Babe this year and I AM ADDICTED! It is such an eyeopener and the reporter and amateur techie in me has to investigate all the possibilities and get the answers. My HRM and the machines at the gym had me overestimating my daily burn so that was a unpleasant reality check. But on the flipside I love hearing that beep that tells me I've achieved one of the targeted goals. LOVE IT!

The same principle applies, whether it's for a "day" or a minute. HRMs are not designed to estimate resting calories. Not at all. So any number you get from wearing it, even "just for a couple of hours" is just gibberish.

It probably is not that important overall, but the BB is known to underestimate calories during certain exercise activities. I found that it was OK for the treadmill, but it was at least 20% off when I used it with a stationary bike or stair climber. Like I said, I don't think that's a big deal.

I agree the BB can give your some valuable insight about your casual activity and can be a great motivator.
