i have been really really trying for the past few days to drink 8 glasses of water...and cutting back on my regular stream of diet coke. but i'm finding it really hard to down all that water, and wanted to know if other people drink other nutrient rich water, or flavored water, for some of those 8 glasses? sobe water and vitamin water are some of those i've heard of? any thoughts?

some do. herbal teas are good too. But you should continue to make an effort with the plain water, it's really good for you. :flowerforyou:0

i drink at least 2 bottles of special k20 protein water a day. i really like the mixed berry and tropical flavors. it really does curb your appetite... for a while. the only downfall is that its kind of expensive. if you get the pre-made bottles its about $1.50 a bottle. the packets you mix yourself are about $7.50 for 24 packets. the packets are kind of gritty tasting to me. i found that if i take 4 packets to 1 gallon of water, mix in a pitcher at home, and let sit over night, it tastes a lot better and not gritty. if i drink the entire one gallon in a day, i add 32 oz for my water intake, half that is recommended for the day. the entire gallon only adds 140 calories, but gives 20g protein. thats a huge amount for me! hope this helps.0

You have to remember that all those water substitutes and protein waters have extra calories, so you should drink them in moderation.
I find that the crystal light or off brand sugar free mix pouches are fantastic. Mix one into a bottle of water or glass and you have great tasting drinks.
It's hard to switch to water, but you can do it! Try drinking a full glass of water before you drink your first diet coke and each following. Also, drink one right before a meal. You'll get your water in, and you'll eat less because the water will make you feel full before you eat all of your food.0 -
The ever-popular myth that 8 glasses of water is still being perpetuated. This came from a study done in the 50's that said approximately 8 glasses of water was suggested for the average person. It was only recently that they revisited this study and read the 'fine print' wherein it notes that the 8 glasses number includes water taken into your body by all other food and drink.
Although it's true that drinking certain diuretics like caffeine will actually require you to take in more water than otherwise maintain the same hydration, simply adding flavor to water doesn't take away the fact that you're drinking water. Same goes for milk, juice, or almost any other liquid.0 -
i have to use a sprinkle of crystal light enough to flavor i cannot drink plain water it makes me nauseated.0

i love water, so this suggestion may not even help, but i am very particular about the temperature of my water. i like it cold cold cold. (my boyfriend on the other hand likes his a little warmer than room temperature). i also prefer it through a straw or nalgene with the spill proof sipper. trying it out of a different container may help as well as finding that correct temp. for you.0

Also another member mentioned nausea- I used to be that way too. It takes a bit of getting used to, plain water does, but once you are it's ssssoooooooooo easy. Juices and water add-ons are way too sweet to me now, I couldn't drink them even if I wanted to.:flowerforyou:0 -
I slice up a small orange or lemon and add half to a 64 oz. pitcher of water. It adds just a little bit of flavor to the water.0

:noway: you look amazing!! what a difference! don't even look like the same person!0 -
I feel the same way, I cannot drink plain water. I used to drink six cans of diet coke a day!!!!! But i stopped and only treat myself to one once or twice a month. I drink the fruit flavored waters that have no calories, I think it is safe but not sure.0

I'm not a plain water drinker either, so I like Aquafina flavored water. Some have 0 calories, sugar, & fat and are not too sweet. I used to drink Propel, but stopped because of the calories and it's really too sweet for me. What else is yummy also is the Cherry Coke Zero!!0

I agree with temp of water, I can't drink it cold it has to be room temp, or warmer!0 -
Try a squirt or two of lemon or lime concentrate.. Or Freeze oranges/Strawberries/Any fruit you like and use that instead of ice..
I am the same way with wanting a straw i can drink it much faster that way, or out of a sippy type cup0 -
Thank you very much ! You also look like a different person. It is just amazing how different life is in so many ways. Have a great day :flowerforyou:0

Like nmutchnick I cannot stand plain water. I always go for the sugar free, calorie flavors. You don't even need to use the whole packet to give it some oomph either!0
