Figuring out Calories

Hey all!

So, I have a quick question that I am hoping to get some advice about. How do you figure out calories for items where you don't have a real idea on how much of any sort of ingredient? Like for something that is already prepared such as at a Deli case. Do you use the database to find an equivalent?

For example, I went to Fresh Market the other day and saw all sorts of tasty items. One was Chicken Potstickers. They did not have nutritional information on them and are not in the database. However, there are a ton of other versions that are, including ones from Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. What would be the best way to add these into my calorie count?

Thank you for your help!

  • if you get the app "foodugate" on your phone, it can scan bar codes and tell you nutrition facts about the item.
It also rates it on how healthy it is and can compare it to simular products.
