Hi, just a quick question, I feel like I cannot eat all my calories. I eat a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner, and am left with about 400+ calories at the end of it. I am eating enough, have a look at my diary. When I joined up to MFP, I chose the option to lose 2lbs a week which was the max it would allow me. So I know it's not that I have allowed myself extra calories in that way

Anyway, when I complete a day, it says at the end that I have a lot of calories left over and I should not do that because it can slow my metabolism etc. I am at a loss what to do, I don't want to go and eat chocolate or something just to up my calories! Should I stop exercising? I've only been dieting for a few days now, have 4 stone to lose

Any advice appreciated

x

  • If you just add a little here and there, you will eat enough. For instance - add a slice of peanut butter toast to your breakfast. How about a side salad or serving of veggies with your dinner? Have another snack in the afternoon....

I'm not trying to be mean here, but "can't eat" enough is silly. Obviously, you CAN eat enough and MORE THAN enough or you wouldn't be over-weight. You know how to eat.

Under-eating can be as bad as over-eating. Add in some healthy, high calorie foods. I'd recommend almonds, a table spoon of peanut butter, or something like that.

snack on nuts, have a spoon of peanut butter, eat full fat yogurt, full fat milk and butter instead of diet or low fat. you do need at least 1200cals a day to prevent starvation mode xx

    That is a good point.

I noticed that you aren't currently snacking. If you eat 5 small meals per day, you will get all of your calories and your body will burn calories more effectively as this will jump start your metabolism. Just a suggestion.

Thank you, I will do that. What would count as a small meal? x

A small meal/snack can be cheese and fruit, toast w/peanut butter, string cheese, a handful of nuts

hmm when ur trying to lose weight you start eating healthy n healthy foods such as veggies are bulky so it takes alot of room in ur stomach bbut gives less calories but you have to make sure you eat all the calories because after 3 or 4 weeks you will start feeling hungry because all the fat will start to burn n you need more food. if it feels like your are forcing yourself then do it bcoz in he future you have to eat all the calories

I took a look at the past few days on your diary and it looks like you are doing okay to me. As has been suggested, a handful of nuts or a spoonful of nut butter can add quite a few calories without adding a lot of food if you are really worried about it.

But you were not under 1200 on any of the days I saw and were a little over on one day so I think you're doing fine. As long as it all evens out and you are full. You don't have to meet it exactly every day.
