Hi all I am new to this website and absolutely love it I was just browsing some old posts because I know someone else must have answered this question before but I couldn't find it-- when the heck are you supposed to weigh yourself to get a good picture of your real progress.

For example I am a member of TOPS we weigh in at 5pm at night on Thursdays and I am always way heavier at that time then any other which is so FRUSTRATING. I think sometimes it is because I drink a lot during the day.

However me weight fluctuates so much-- in the morning I might way 185.6 (which shows progress and makes me excited) then at night I weigh 189 (which shows no progress)

I have always heard you should weigh yourself at the same time with the same clothes BUT is it okay to do it in the morning before consuming anything does this give you an accurate picture of your weight loss. What do you do?

Just for kicks why does your weight fluctuate so much at night especially when nothing is going in or coming out (which seems to violate the 2nd law of Thermodynamics) I realize some is converted to heat energy and some water is lost due to evaporation but not enough to explain 4 pounds???? I am hoping someone can explain this to me I am very curious.

Thank you

I'd say weigh yourself every morning after you go to the bathroom, either naked or always wearing the same clothes. Now, some people don't weigh everyday, and that's fine, but it helps others stay accountable. However, if you see an overall downward trend say, over 4 weeks time, you're doing well, even if day to day you are varying a bit.

As for progress pics, I say every 30 days. You should be able to make some visible changes every month IF you are sticking to the plan and know you're following it to a T.

    Good luck!

I weigh myself daily every morning after I use the bathroom. I do this for accountability reasons but it does fluctuate 2-3 lbs during the week. The only numbers I log is on Sunday morning. It's always accurate. I hope this helps. Good luck!

I always weigh myself at the same time every morning. I use this for accountability, but my official weigh in is once a week on Sat. am, so as the day to day number might fluctuate at the end of the week is my official number! Which I might add has been consistently down since De. 18 when I started. Yeah!! 28 lbs. lost!!!

I weigh once a month in the mornings. For me there is about a 5-7lb difference between morning and evening depending on my food choices.

Only once a week. Women tend to gain and lose a LOT of water weight and I don't want the temporary gain to derail my efforts.
