Problem with Polar F4

This makes me nutty. I wear my Polar for every class and lately it says I'm either dead with no heart rate or it can go up to over 200 BPM which is crazy wrong. I got a new battery and it didn't work. I got a new strap but it's not working. I don't know if it isn't compatible since it's for non-coded things, and my watch is apparently coded...I'm getting very annoyed. Anyone know what might be causing this? Thanks!

No clue but I just got mine and it says to soak the strap where the monitors are. Do you do that?0

Just so I'm clear...
1) do you mean Polar F4 or FT4 (I think oneIT's reply was for an FT4)?
2) the new battery was for the watch part, correct?
3) did the new strap included a new transmitter portion?
If you are talking about the F4 and answers to 2 and 3 are yes, my only guess would also be that the electrode areas may need to be cleaned or moistened before workout (you don't soak the F4 as it's a different type of strap than the FT4) Or maybe it has something to do with the coding - maybe see if you can get the right strap?
Here's the link in case you don't have your user manual anymore, check out the troubleshooting section - noticed there is also a note about non coded transmission on a previous page:

Mine does the smae thing and it makes me sooooooo ANGRY. I havent tried to hcange the battery, but I looked on the website and it said to tighten it and it helped a little. Im here for more answers.0 -
My Polar ft4 did the exact same thing. I changed the batteries in BOTH areas and it was fine for a while and then started again. I upgraded to the Polar ft7 and have had zero problems.0

Mine only does that when it's loose. I used a safety pin to tighten it to fit my body more, and it works perfectly fine now. I also wet the sensors before and after every use.0

Mine does that occasionally (00 reading) when it hasn't had a proper wash in a while. I rinse it after every use but it's supposed to go in the washing machine every 5 wears - which it doesn't usually.
I had this problem on Monday at the gym, put it in the washing machine that night. Worked really well yesterday and today, picked up a normal reading faster than it usually does0
