Vent #1 - OK so I have come to beleive that everything I do (or alot of things I do) group arond
"eating".....my husbands father passed away this morning and we are getting together to "eat".....

vent #2 - I have been exercising every day for at least 45min. and my butt still looks like I should be wearing sign on it that says "pass with care".....

Vent #3 - I am almost positive that no punds were lost again this week and maybe 1-2 gained...

Vent #4 - Why does it take 2 weeks to lose 1-2 pounds but I can gain 1-2 pounds over night?

Vent #5 - I am all done venting time to move on...:explode:

I'm sorry to hear about your father in law. :frown:

As far as weight gain/loss....it's easy to gain because everything we put into our bodies has weight, and it takes a while for those things to exit. We don't wait for our intestines to empty before we eat again. If we did that, we'd eat only once or twice a day.
It's just as easy to lose weight if you take a diuretic or a laxative. It's fat that takes a while to lose. It also takes a while to gain. You didn't gain all of your body fat in just a couple months, and you can't lose it that quickly either. It's just *easier* to gain because all that takes is some overeating and sitting around. Losing fat takes hard work. Don't bother too much with the scale, it can't tell you very much.

    I have the same issues.

Heck I can gain two pounds by thinking about food!

There are days when I get so discouraged that I think "WHY do I put myself through all this?"
Ultimately though when I think back on how miserable I was 40 pounds ago I will take the discouragement of slow weight loss any time!

    Hang in there.

    Sorry about your hubbie's father.

    So sorry about your FIL...
My weight gain was a direct result of when I quit breastfeeding (my son was being weaned) and then my FIL got sick with cancer and died and I ate, and ate to try and feel better. Bad combo!

Sorry to hear about your father in law.

Getting together with family and friends is important at these times, the eating is optional.

Zen, you are very right about food being the center of our social lives. People eat for comfort, they eat for joy, for boredom, to play cards, watch tv, to play sports, well, I am sure you get the idea. and there is rarely food for all. its almost always goodies in one form or another. short of carrying a bag of celery sticks in your purse you are going to be tempted. claiming fullness can help, of course then you do have to hide in the bathroom and eat that bag of celery you have stashed in your purse.
Song is right about the food. I weight more at 5pm than I did at 7am, and its almost always by the amount of food not expelled. I try to take a water pill, have you tried that? you can do this, just stay the course. I am very sorry about your loss. may he Rest in Peace.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I was very good at first about only looking at the scale weekly. And it went very well. Then curiosity got the best of me. I would look at the scale after a particularly good or bad day. The results were never what I expected and got me all flustered. So I have now vowed to go back to one day a week (hopefully!) I have a love hate relationship with my scale.

I too eat for comfort. But I also take comfort in knowing that my lifestyle has changed thanks to this website, and no matter what damage I may do in times of stress I know how to fix it!

    Hang in there!!:flowerforyou:
