Daughters - Male Pediatricians

My daughter is almost nine. She has always had the same pediatrician - a male. Just wondering when/if we should transition to a female doctor anytime soon? I go to a female doctor who is a GP and was thinking of eventually taking my daughter to her.

Any insight is appreciated! Thanks.

I've had male doctors my entire life.

If he's not a good doctor or your daughter is uncomfortable around him then you should change, otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.

leave it up to the kid. My daughter is almost 16 and has had male pediatricians for the past 9 years. Now that she has hit puberty (and beyond!) we'll be changing from a ped to a gyn. She has requested a female gyn. But a male ped never bothered her. Take your cues from your kid.

If your daughter says something, then switch. But don't put an idea into her head about a male provider because of what you feel.

I really dont think it makes a difference, MDs usually have a nurse of medical assistant in the room with them during invasive procedures.
