i have a major binge eating issue. i am an emotional eater, if im really happy- i pig out. if im depressed- i pig out. if im bummed- you guessed it... i pig out. this always screws up any chance at weight loss i may have. i work out about 40 minutes a day, 6 days a week. i never manage to lose any extra pounds. then about 3 am a month ago while up with my 3 month old i came upp with a plan. there was commercials advertising green giant and birdseye self steaming veggie bags. now, when i feel the need to binge and stuff my face, i reach for one of these steamers bag. i can inhale an entire bag of say broccoli and cheese sauce, get the feeling that i indulged, but only ate 130 calories for an entire bag. (45 cals per serving, about 3 servings per bag). ive done this now for about a month and have watched the weight (slowly) start melting off. one entire bag of veggies for 100-150 cals is such a better choice than the 5 cookies i would usually down in 5 minutes. even the generic walmart brands taste good and are healthier choices. hope this tip helps.

For myself I see binge behavior as binge behavior whether it's healthy foods or not, it's the behavior that I feel is unhealthy for me. If I plan a meal and finish off the leftovers that I hadn't planned on my meal that could be considered a binge to me, so many variables. It's often a feeling of loss of control that I recognize as binge behavior for myself. I eat much healthier now but there are times I feel the mode coming on as a thought first. So for me veggies unplanned and eaten in a frenzy wouldn't be a non-binge to me.
simply my thoughts on binging.
So glad you've found a method that is helping you :drinker:0 -
Better binging, I love it.
Some of us have better self control than others - and still others (like me) have pretty much NO self control. I replaced all my bad-for-me food with healthy alternatives, so when I overeat at least it's better for me - and I'm also losing weight, slowly but surely. Glad to hear I'm not alone in this!

its funny, someone else wrote about binging today. i agree that healthy choices are better, if you can be strong enough to make them, but i am a binge eater, too, and though i haven't had an episode in a few months (not that i don't overeat every day, i just don't binge ever single day) i would love to find out why i do that. during my binges i eat until i am full then i eat even more, and when they are occurring i can't seem to stop.
secretly i worry that i will not be completely a success in my weight loss until i find out that answer.
i wish you well in your journey through this, too ! its great that you can make the conscious choice to substitute. you GO to it!0
