The ongoing rant about PCOS and unwanted hair... Just a quick question: Have any of you noticed an improvement with weight loss? I know weight loss is supposed to help balance the hormones (possibly) and haven't noticed any difference, if anything it is worse. Just looking for other people and their experiences. Thanks in advance.

I have noticed that mine doesn't grow as quickly. For example, at my highest weight I would shave in the morning and have 5 o'clock shadow by the evening. Now I can go at least a day and half before it starts to get noticeable. I read something awhile back about PCOS and facial hair, something along the lines of once the hair folicals (sp?) are recognized as male (which is what happens in PCOS), it is nearly impossible to get them to switch back to being "female". It's a bummer for sure!

I'm not really noticing any improvement, and possibly a further spread. I'm lucky to be blonde, so the facial hair issue is less visually noticeable. I have noticed that growth seems to speed up just before and during my period, which is curious. The place it really bothers me, and seems to grow fastest, is on my chest area. I've just started using a product called Biodepyl from Thalgo which is supposed to inhibit regrowth - still early days, but it does seem to be slowing growth down.

I should say that I don't have typical PCOS, and no actual diagnosis, but because of the hair growth and increased androgens in my blood work, being a larger-than-average woman, that's the assumption that's being made by my doctor. I first noticed hair growth in unexpected places when I stopped taking the pill - has anyone else experienced this?
