Anyone else notice when you search for healthy low calorie f
You get recipes packed full of WHITE flour and WHITE sugar?? Ugh I want to get healthy and not continue to find things that continue to include items that are so bad for me. I need to re train my body from craving all of the junk food and I can't do that by cooking with items that add to my cravings.
Does anyone know of any websites that have recipes that are truly healthy and low calorie?
Thanks in advance.

I just combine low Carb, low Cal foods. I don't bake stuff, so I'm not much help I guess. But couldn't you just try substitutions? Egg white for eggs, fat free sour cream instead of heavy cream, whole wheat flour instead of white? Cut the sugar...0

Protip- cook simple fresh ingredients. Don't try and get all fancy at first.
Bake a spaghetti squash and drizzle with EVOO with some salt and pepper
Roast parsnips and carrots with salt pepper garlic
Sauté zucchini and squash with some onions
Boil or steam some artichokes
Freeze and blend a banana for "ice cream"
Cook cherry tomatoes with EVOO, garlic, some lemon juice, and fresh basil
Bake fish in tin foil with some lemon slices and some olive oil
You can always look on punchfork and enter one ingredient you want to make- but don't make things complicated! Not only will you be surprised the great flavors you can develop with just a few simple ingredients you'll start to learn how to cook things on your own. I suggest every time you go grocery shopping walking in the produce/meats/fish section and picking one ingredient. Then as you learn over time you won't need recipes! ( unless you're baking... That's a science)0 -
I am a pretty experienced cook but I love trying new things. I feel like I need some inspiration sometimes and not make the same things over and over.
I guess I was so annoyed with this lady saying her apple desert was so good for you and it was basically butter, sugar and a couple apples LOL seriously people!
That is a good idea with a new veggie or fruit. I LOVE veggies(family hates them) but not a huge fan of fruit so I think i will try the fruit thing.0 -

I've found things that usually say "healthy" "low fat" "diet" "lean" etc. Are mostly crap gullible people buy because they don't have the commitment to change their life style.
Although, to be fair... The average American's idea of healthy and my idea of healthy is probably pretty different. That's relative terms for ya!
Edit: also... Now I want apple pie which I can BET is less healthy than those baked apples.0 -
Its rather easy to convert those recipes....just change the flour... or make the necessary changes to make that recipe healthier... I do it all the time.... its seriously speaking, very easy0

I went to the library and they have a used book sale once a week and found some good low-calorie recepies. The older the better. As we progress into to the future, we're eating a lot of things that aren't as good for us as healthy old homestyle cooking.0

Its not just that... foods from the yester-decades were never this modified, nor manipulated or chemically enhanced.... today, the so-called experts were FORCED to release documentation PROVING that GMO foods (corn as an example) actually caused some serious medical issues (found it on CNN.com but will try searching for it again in the morning... I just read it tonight)....
Thankfully there are plenty of free resources available for recipe changing and exchanging for those who dont understand how its done....at least THAT hasnt been manipulated yet....lol0 -
Try looking for low-carb, low-cal recipes. I've found that to be the best way to steer clear of all the stuff I'm trying to cut out.0
