There are two classes at the gym tonight I can go to but I don't know which to choose. My choices are between BodyPump and RPM (I'll post the websites description of the class at the bottom). RPM is cycling....is this what others call a spinning class??
I've done RPM before, 1st time 2 days ago, and I burned 480 calories, but wanted to kill myself because the seat on the bike hurt so much.
The other class is called BODYPUMP and I've never been there before but its a lot of weight lifting. Now I know that weights in great for toning but not the best way to burn calories. I've already done one toning class this week btw. HOWEVER, this is what they say about the class....
The most successful group fitness program in history, Les Mills BODYPUMP® is a 45-60 minute class using barbells and adjustable weights to tone and condition muscles while raising metabolic rate for rapid fat-burning.
After an initial warm-up, all the major muscle groups are worked via a series of weight-bearing exercises including squats, presses and lifts. The class finishes with a cool-down and stretch.
Les Mills BODYPUMP® is proven to be "the world's fastest way to get in shape" by research which has confirmed higher than expected fat-burning effects alongside endurance, strength and "wellness" benefits.
Even though they say it has higher-than-expected fat-burning effects, does anyone out there have an idea of which class would burn more?

You could easily burn the same amount in each class. Your calorie burn is effected by intensity and duration. The differences in the classes are likely negligible given the same intensity and duration. The question really should come down too, which one do you enjoy more.0

I guess maybe I should try out this bodypump class then. Part of my wants to get used to riding a bike more often, but also from 20minutes into the class for a until there was 10 minutes to go....i've never wanted to just stop more in my life!0

Your spin class experience sounds totally normal. A lot of people have pain the first time sitting on a bike-it's pretty painful! Once your body adjusts though, It doesn't hurt anymore and spin is an amazing workout.0

I vote pump... it's good to balance out some cardio with a little strength training. Pump will tone more areas of your body.0
