slow going but ok

just wanted to share--b/c it's asked many times a day--weight loss can be very slow, but it does happen!
my first 3 (well, 2.8) lbs came off quick. then it took another 2 weeks to lose .5 pounds. and now 4 days with another 0.2 lbs. it is slow slow slow. but i'm not complaining! i am so thrilled to see any downward movement! (btw, yes i am a scale-obsessed gal. it reinforces what i see/feel is changing, either up or down.)
Seeing any weight loss energizes me to stay committed to exercise and healthy choices at each meal. But then again, when i don't see any change, I'm still motivated to keep at it b/c I believe that loss is just around the corner--if i keep i keep it up.
my point is that for those of us with smallish amounts to lose (i have 15 more to go), it is going to be slow, but by making the changes and being patient will be rewarded.
like shboss and fc and many others, it saddens me when i read people wanting to do potentiallly harmful things to their bodies all in an effort to lose weight quickly. diet pills, starvation calorie levels, etc. i'm not wanting to start a judgmental, lecture-y thread, just extending my arms in for my fellow travelers.
so i hope that my sharing this small small success will help give people perspective on this process.

I like many want it off quick but we didnt gain it that quick and im ok with the process of loosing it and making myself healthy for my future. thanks for posting! :glasses:0

Any loss is good. I've only been on this site for a couple of weeks and i expected to loose more than I have, but i dont mind cos im more aware of what i am eating and not eating when im not hundry plus im exercising so even if i dont loose any fast i think in the long run i'll be better off. Its kinda a lifestyle change.0

I hate the stupid scale. I'm on a scale strike...until next week. I've been on strike since the beginning of February. I get addicted. I think it's best if we don't weigh every day and really focus on measurements, the way our clothes fit, and, most importantly, the way we FEEL. I have bad days where I just don't want to work out or eat healthy and, occasionally, I give in, but I know that if I keep at it this will work. We all just need to remember that. Honestly, this site is a godsend to me. Even on my crappy days I come here, read some posts, and remember that everyone struggles through it. Slow and steady is the best way to get the weight off! If you wait a month between weighing in, though, it'll seem like you're losing faster because the number will be bigger than weekly or daily weighing. I'd rather see a 5 lb weight loss after a month than a 1 lb weight loss after a week and a half. Just feels better...must be a subconscious thing.0

I feel the same way. I look at my goal of losing 266 lbs and I don't want this to take all spring. :happy: :blushing: However, when the scale is not your friend. :mad: :grumble: :mad: :grumble: Someone - no wait, it was exerciseisfree suggested I try on clothing that I hadn't been able to wear in a while. WAHOO!!:drinker: :drinker: That was a party day, I had new clothes, and realized that my body may be losing fat, but not losing weight if you get what I mean. So, don't forget your other guages: How do you feel? How do your clothes fit? What does the tape measurer say?0

This has been such a learning process for me. I was clueless as to the amount of calories I was putting in my body and how exercise truly affected me.
Since I have been eating much much better ( almost all clean) and exercising at least 6 days a week I feel fantastic. I know it will take over a year to get where I am going with my weight and I am okay with that. I sure didn't gain it all overnight. I, too, watch Biggest Loser and yearn for the 15 lbs a week loss but , although it is called reality TV, it is not reality.
Reality is working a 40 hour week, keeping a house, looking after kids and being a spouse and a friend. There isn't time to work out all day.
I am content with where I am headed and the length of the journey to get there.
Today, I was stressed with my morning at work. The old Vicky would have had chocolate or a couple of glasses of wine when I got home. Instead, at lunch, I stuck my ipod in my ears and went for a good walk. It is only about 40 degrees outside and windy but it cleared my head better than chocolate or shiraz. Another lesson learned!!0 -
I have always been EXTREMELY impatient with everything in my life, including weight loss. I have tried to lose "just a few pounds" before and I give up way too quickly. I started MFP in late January and felt like this was going to be another one of those times when I give up. My boyfriend kept telling me, "This is what you want and have wanted forever. DON'T GIVE UP!" So I started taking Spin classes, counting calories, and yesterday we went shopping and I bought a whole new spring wardrobe!!!! I started at 138 and am now down to 133.5 (as of this morning). I feel GREAT and love the way I look in my (TWO!!!) new bikinis!!!
The point of it is.... STICK WITH IT! No matter how much you want/have to lose, it is worth the long and tedious process!0
