I think that 644 calories from almonds may be a little too much! Almonds are a great snack in moderation but I would suggest you vary what you eat to make certain you are getting all the nutrients you need. But hey, you've lost 40 lbs. so it's working for you!0

644 calories in almonds seems like a lot -- but I think it'd be easy to eat that much -- but that's like 4 servings... Maybe cut back a bit to 2 servings (about 320 calories in almonds) -- great job on the weight loss too!!0

Aside from the high fat content (even though it the good kind) and high calorie count, they're an awesome source of nutrients. I eat about six to eight servings per week. As long as you are keeping a balanced diet, you should fine. I am, however, no expert.
By the way.....congrats on your success so far!0 -
a 1/4 cups of almonds is what you want a day...stick to that...0
-
I alternate with cashews and walnuts. 2 oz. per day0

Why is that too many? If it fits in your macros and it makes you happy, eat them.
I sometimes eat 500-600 cals in nuts or almond butter in a day. Helps me meet my targets.
If the calories are keeping you from getting other healthy foods in, then it would be a problem.0 -

Who wrote that law?0 -
I am a nut freak. I could easily eat that much and not even realize it. I take what I want out of the container and put them in something separate to make sure I don't eat too many. Never eat them out of the package, you will never stop. I also make sure I eat them one at a time. You will enjoy them for longer and not eat as many.0

I eat roughly 300 calories worth a day which amounts to about 40 almonds a serving ( I get the almonds in bulk at Sam Club. Are you still losing weight or have you stalled??? If you have stalled cut back a serving and give it a couple weeks and see if you start losing again.0

Mmmmmmmm. Nuts!0

I agree with this 100%. If it fits in your macros, eat 'em.0 -
I don't think there is anything wrong with that, if it's what you like and you're eating enough "good" food to keep your body supplied in energy. The most important thing for maintenance is doing something that you can sustain forever.
I eat a lot of nuts, too, and I've been steadily losing weight.
That's just my 2 cents, but I'm certainly no fitness expert!0 -
Can I ask why you're eating that many almonds? If you happen to love them then keep on trucking with the almonds 'cause it makes you happy and they fit your macros. Eat them!
If it's because you think they're a great source of protein or they contain some magical ingredient to better health then cut back because:
a) there are MUCH better sources of protein.
b) while they do contain good nutrients all foods in moderation, right?0 -

Exactly. It's not like you were eating all your calories in cookies. If it work for you do not worry about it0 -
This title made me giggle. I think because it's all in caps, like HELP ME! THE ALMONDS ARE ATTACKING!
But no, I think you should be fine... I usually eat around 1/4 of my calories in the form of almond butter and I've been steadily losing.0 -

If Omega's in general are thought of as good kind, this is true.
But really, Omega 6 is seen as bad kind, Omega 3 as good kind. And almonds have no Omega 3's.
So while useful, don't think you are getting the good kind of fat. And awesome source of nutrients would be compared to maybe other high fat junk foods, but they aren't that great.
They can satisfy an appetite though!

When I was eating nuts I was eating maybe 300/400 cals of them - quite easy to as they're nommy - it was fitting in to my regime and they're pretty awesome so, why the hell not?! lol0

I doubt it's going to hurt you to eat that many almonds as long as you are not going over your calorie goal and are still eating enough other foods to get proper nutrition. There is more to diet than macro-nutrients. Vitamins, minerals and other nutrients are also important. Variety is a good thing in a diet.0

Everything in moderation man! I know almonds contain the good fat (monounsaturated fat) vrs the bad saturation fat found in fried foods etc. But we really only need to feed our bodies a small amount of this fat vrs a large quantity of it. To much of a good thing turns into unhealthy. I read somewhere to limit consumption to about one ounce or so and not more than that.0

I just stopped eating a "lot" of almonds like what you're doing. I was working out hard and realized I was on maintenance calories because of the spike in Almonds. If you want to lose weight, portions with almonds, if you want to maintain eat!!0

Omega 6 is not bad fat, it's a necessary fat. Like many things you just have to pay attention to the amount.Omega-6 fatty acids are considered essential fatty acids: They are necessary for human health but the body can' t make them -- you have to get them through food. Along with omega-3 fatty acids, omega-6 fatty acids play a crucial role in brain function, as well as normal growth and development. Also known as polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), they help stimulate skin and hair growth, maintain bone health, regulate metabolism, and maintain the reproductive system.
A healthy diet contains a balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation, and some omega-6 fatty acids tend to promote inflammation. In fact, some studies suggest that elevated intakes of omega-6 fatty acids may play a role in Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. The typical American diet tends to contain 14 - 25 times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids.0 -

I love the Blue Diamond Smokehouse. Got the Walmart variety smoke flavor, and even I with little appreciation for food could tell the difference with good quality almonds.
As the bag says - "Irresistible Snacking" - which is the problem when I taste that salt.
Which ones do you use that keeps you from going overboard?0 -

Yes too many and you'll gain weight. I eat ten at a time if I eat, just count them out.0 -
I have a cookie jar of dry roasted almonds on the dry kitchen top for my family to enjoy everyday. Beats eating chips or other junk food. The key is to eat moderately and have an active lifestyle, no?0
