...and i also dont know if it should go in "motivation and support" BUT (for me) this was a bit of motivation.
ill try to keep it short (uhhh..sure)
ANYWAYS, i enrolled my daughter and i in this program called "JOIN 4 Kids" It's basically a four or five month program where her and i go to the YMCA with about a half dozen other kids and their caregivers. We discuss food, exercise, bad foods vs good foods, daily intake, water versus juice, etc. ALLLLL the things we learn here. The kids track their food and count up their calories. They have a book to look through to find said calories, etc. My daughter is loving it. She's loved being in this "classroom" thing with me and other kids around her age. She really does enjoy seeing what calories are in what and because *I* do not put a whole big *kitten* emphasis on OHMYGOD youre 100 calories above your goal, she takes pride in choosing her foods wisely - and when she doesnt choose wisely, i dont give her a hard time because, seriously, i want her to learn, not obsess, about healthy choices and food intake and exercise, etc. I dont want her to be like ME and have this horrible obsession and hissy fits when the scale doesnt move (ie, this morning)
SOOOOO, with that being said, I just got a phone call from Ryan who is the "teacher" of our group and he informed me that the New York Times got wind of our program and are coming to our class on Tuesday to do a photo shoot and an interview of the class. I dont if the parents will be in the picture, but i KNOW my daughter is going to be PSYCHED!!! you have no idea!! she'll totally be stoked to wear her new animal hat in the picture and show off to her friends.
I just wanted to share this because (a) hell, i wanted to brag about my kid and (b) cause it was the only exciting thing that's happened to me other than going to the OBGYN which was not at all that much fun in case you were curious.
So, yeah, I'm really excited about this latest development because I was ready to throw in the towel last week and quit BUT because i want to teach my child that "one must finish what they started" i stuck in there and went to the class with her. And should anyone be interested in the article when it comes out i'll be sure to link it up.
sorry, i knew i couldnt keep it short.
