Calories question, should I be concerned?

OK I just recently started back excercising and changed the way I eat even more(I don't use the word diet), and i've noticed how low my calories are actually staying. Now i'm well aware that I am one of those people who can easily become addicted to excercise and will just eat less and less if I don't watch myself, which I know is not good. I've been eating regularly everyday and i'm not really going hungry or anything but I keep not even getting close to the 1200 calories i'm supposed to eat while burning off close to that instead. I haven't felt weak or anything and am not sure if I should be concerned anyway and try to eat more. Any help would be great, I really wanna lose weight HEALTHILY and don't want to do more damage to my body instead.

Eventually, it will harm you. Under eating is sometimes worse than over eating.0

An easy way to add calories and make sure you're getting your nutrients is not to get "diet" foods. Use higher fat milk, full fat cheeses and other dairy, etc. Make sure you get plenty of protein. If you're as low as 1200 calories you have to make sure and plan well to get everything your body needs.
Also you can get used to eating too little, but that doesn't make it healthy. Without seeing your diary it's hard to say, but most likely it won't hurt you to up your calories.0 -
I'm not really doing much of the "diet" food though and we only ever buy whole milk. I always eat a salad with some type of protein in it for lunch and I snack on fruits and veggies mostly if I get hungry and i'm only drinking water0

Do you mind making your diary public? It's really hard to give feedback on food if the diary is private, although I understand not wanting it open. Mine is open to friends only.0

I had someone in my life who for most of my life tortured me everytime I ate anything so it's really hard for me to do that, but I usually eat cheerios witha 1/2 cup of milk for breakfast and a salad with some type of protein for lunch. my dinner always varies but has some type of protein and a veggie and I try to just snack on fruits and veggies inbetween if I get hungry and I only drink water now0

ditto. If you're not getting 1200 cals it'll harm you by confusing your metabolism, it won't know how to work properly and will start telling your body to STORE any fat/ cals you get to save for energy later because if you're reguarly eating too little your body wants to survive; save fat for energy later. You're better off doing something like eating an ounce of nuts (healthy recommended amount) a day- this'll add like 150 cals or so to your diet. Just an opinion ) Eat more!
Read this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/3047-700-calories-a-day-and-not-losing it'll change your opinion I bet. It did for me!! Made me realize I was eating too little. No wonder I was losing so slowly!0 -

I'm sorry to hear that, and I understand why you wouldn't want to open your diary. It does sound like you're at high risk for disordered thinking about food though, so try upping your calories a bit. Add some nuts, avacados, or other calorie dense foods. You're right to want to go the healthy route.0 -
Ok I made my diary open to friends but that's a really really huge step for me, i've never experienced judgement here but it's still one of my worst fears0
