Fashion advice: What would you wear for a pub-crawl?

A friend of mine is having pub-crawl for her birthday this weekend, and I'm stuck on what to wear. It's starting out at an Irish pub and ending up at a rock-and-roll, dueling piano bar with several other stops in between. It's all within about 4 blocks and the temperature is supposed to be in the high 30's(F), although I'm sure that inside the bars will be much warmer.
The two outfits I'm considering are a black button-down shirt (3/4 length sleeves with a belt) or a fitted sweater (light burgundy, wide v-neck). Both would be with dark jeans, cute-but-comfortable shoes, and they look good, although the black looks more sharp/club attire and the sweater is more relaxed and laid back. I figure I can wear my coat when we are walking from place to place and take it off once we're inside.
Honestly, with these people, it is also entirely possible that we'll end up dancing, singing karaoke, at a male strip club, or at a house party at some point. (These have all apparently happened on past outings.)
Are either of these outfits appropriate?

I'm thinking the black button down shirt. Seems more club appropriate, whereas the sweater is more of a dinner-party appropriate.
And if you're wearing a belt with the black button down, it makes it even better. Get an awesome bracelet or necklace and there and you'll be ready to go.0 -
I'd wear the black option (button-down). You don't want to get too hot in a sweater or anything. And black is more mysterious.
Add a great accessory, and put on a little more makeup and you're good to go!0 -
knee pads
i like how you think!0 -
That was hilarious!! My husband and I were just talking about this...well not your pub crawl, but our own socials. Anyway...we always aire on the side of sharp, put together, classy...dressed up. I mean the worst thing that can happen is: you are the best dressed person there. And that never feels wrong! But yes...maybe pack the knee pads. ;o)0

LOL at the replies. I second the black button down. Dark jeans, boots with a heel (if you have a comfy pair), and dressy jewelry. And wear your hair up.0

The black button down, but maybe throw a cute tank under it in case you end up somewhere crazy dancing and sweaty!0

One of those rubber hazmat suits.0
