Excercise with kids!

Hello everyone I havent posted here before but I have been here almost a week and must say it seems to really be helping. It is really eye opening to see how many calories and so forth are in the foods that I would normally eat well not paying attention to that. I know I am not going to loose the weight I want to just watching my calories I must excercise and I dont think the excercise I am doing now is going to get me where I want to be. I am 21 and have 2 kids a 2 1/2 year old stepson and a 7 month old daughter. I am a stay at home mom in a city and not the best neighborhood so I dont feel comfortable going for a walk with them around here. I gained 50 pounds well I was pregnant and haven't been able to get rid of it..My knees are starting to hurt from carrying around this weight and I am just ready to get rid of it and make a lifetime change ...This board has been a great inspriation. I have been doing 20 minutes of excercise tv the past 3 days with the trainer from the biggest loser. Yet like I say I know that is not enough. I was wondering what kind of excercising mommies do that have kids? Thanks again for all the support!

I have 3 little ones and I would not be able to exercise if it weren't for the 'Kids Club' at my gym. It's a lifesaver.. my kids really enjoy going and it gives me 'no excuses' for not going to the gym. So, if it's possible, try finding a gym near you that is affordable and offers childcare while you workout? I know in my town we have a rec center that also offers child care..

Maybe get hold of some exercise DVDs. You can do them whilst the kids nap and mix them up to create many different workouts. Of course, chasing a 2 1/2 yo around seems like a lot of work too0

Ditto. I had 3 under 4 and I did exercise videos in the morning before they got up, while they were napping, or right after DH got home while he played with them.0 -
I'm sure both the kids would LOVE to dance around to some music with you. I exercise while the kids are napping or before my younger 2 wake up for the day. Make up your own circuit training routine. Do a set of 20 jumping jacks, 20 crunches, run up & down the stairs 5 times, 10 pushups, etc... Anything to get your heart rate moving!

If you don't want to spend $ on exercise dvds, you should check out your local library or even netflix has some good ones!0

When I did workout at home I would just do it while my kids were up running around or playing or I would hop on the elliptical while dinner was cooking-- But now I hit the gym my kids go to the little childcare center in the gym while me and hubbs workout- But also my kids are older 4 and 7 but still even when they were younger I would say ok girls mommy is going to workout right now go play- or they would just talk to me while I worked out-Sometimes they would be all excited like yeah I am gonna workout too and they would start off great and then say forget this lol.
Taebo is great too it can range from 30 minutes to an hour and its cardio and strength training- I have a love hate relationship with Billy Blanks lol- but it works and its good cause you can do it at home.0 -

YouTube also has a bunch of videos posted. I did Jillian Michaels' 30-day Shred off the internet for a while.0
