You Bet Your A** I'm Counting It!

They don't call it "The Great White North" for nothing!
Last night/early this morning, here in Edmonton, we got hit with a wicked little blast of winter. I share a driveway with my neighbour (kind of a "pie-shaped" driveway) and I discovered that if the wind is coming from the right direction, it dumps all the snow in my half of the driveway. Well, I had to shovel it otherwise I was going to be risking not being able to drive in and out of my driveway (plus we have a by-law here that you have to clear the sidewalk in front of your house or you'll be fined).
So, I just spent the last hour (or so) shoveling off the driveway, my sidewalk and my neighbours sidewalk (he cleared mine for me on the last snowfall)...and you bet your a** I'm counting the calories burned! I wish I had a heart monitor so that I could know for sure how much I burned, but most websites I checked with put it anywhere from 625-700 calories...I think I'll split the difference and call it 650.
Good plan? I think so

I DEFINITELY WOULD!! My boyfriend played Junior Hockey for the Weyburn Red Wings and oh I have no clue how you people deal with the snow and minus degrees temperatures up there. The stories are mind-boggling to a Southern California Girl.0

same deal here (i'm in northern Manitoba). it took me 2 hours one day to shovel our entire driveway, some of the drifts were up to my waist! I logged it and eared myself over 600 exercise calories that day!0

oh yeah, absolutely! Count em. Shoveling is pretty intense exercise, it incorporates resistance and cardio (depending on how fast you do it) so count em up, and feel good.
I did an hour and a half on Monday and you bet your sweet patotie I counted it.0
