I noticed on a recent post that someone said there a 16 pounds in a stone, i thought there were 14 so i looked it up on the internet(wiki) and apparently it can vary between countries as it isnt actually an offical measurement.
Can anyone tell me how many there are according to this site?

    Hi
I don't know about this site as it is all in American so only uses pounds but i go off the 14lbs to a stone.

I have never heard of the 16lbs to a stone! Interesting!

  • Frome where I come from....England...it's 14lbs....but now I live in Texas and everything here is supposed to be bigger, so I wonder if it's 16lbs here. ....just joking!

    I'd go for 14lbs.

  • oops spelling mistake....From...not Frome!
  • I have never heard of a stone. What is that??
  • It's a measurement we use in England. I don't say I weigh 150lbs, I'd say I weigh 10st 7lbs, or probably 10 and a half stone...
  • Interesting...
    New to me!!

There are 14 pounds in a stone. I lived in the UK for 7 years and had to learn to think that way.

I too lived in England for about 2.5 years from 1989 to 1992... and never would have known anything about what a stone weight measurement was if I hadn't joined weight watchers over there! Cool! :)

I live in England but from these posts it sounds like outer space!! yes we're funny and at 'weight watchers' we balance real stones on the scales to weigh against, its a bit like Barney Rubble.... no not really

Could get really confusing if we had stayed with 240 pennies to a pound (£)
