A 'well cruds' NSV

My nephew is getting married on the 21st. I have a very expensive size 16 Blackwatch plaid worsted wool dress that has been hanging in my closet for about 10 years. Its a classic Princess style, so I thought since I'm now a 16 I have the wedding weeds sorted. Wrong.......way, way wrong. Its flipping HUGE, like hanging in folds, so you look like you've wrapped a finely woven tarp about you. SO I pulled out the outfit I wore to our daughters wedding four and a half years ago. Trousers are falling off; the top isn't too bad, but baggy and the sweater will work in a pinch ( it was too small at the time, but I wore it anyway). I shall be haunting the charity shops for a more suitable outfit; thank goodness I do have a nice pair of dress trousers that still fit me!

I may tempt fate and try on a few 14s as I had to buy a belt to keep the 16 jeans at my waist.

That is wonderful! And not

Good luck shopping for something for your new svelter self. Is it at all possible to tailor the tarp, er, dress so that it is less...tarpish?

This is great. But it is annoying when you need new clothes along the journey and if like me would rather wait till you've reached the final goal. Enjoy the wedding and how great you must feel.

:blushing: I thought of that...but it's washable wool, so it probably won't work. Besides it's too big to even take in without distorting the lines of the dress (I do sew, but haven't in ages). If I can't find anything in the charity shops I may have to make a skirt to wear with one of the tops I have that fits.
